Biography
Professor David Gracey is a Senior Staff Specialist at the Renal Unit at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney and the Statewide Renal Transplant Service and is a Professor of Medicine at the Central Clinical School, Faculty of Medicine, University of Sydney. He completed a PhD in Immunology at The Centenary Institute, University of Sydney, investigating the mechanisms of renal allograft rejection and is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
David's clinical focus is the interaction of the immune system with renal disease, particularly in renal transplantation and those with chronic viral infections. He has published Australian Guidelines regarding the assessment of patients with chronic viral infections for renal transplantation. He is the current chair of the NSW Transplant Advisory Committee (TAC). He has published widely on kidney disease in patients living with HIV and continues an active research interest in this area.
